County Court Green Home Makeover
The Green Home Makeover is a key demonstration project of the County Court Sustainable Neighbourhood Retrofit Action Plan (SNAP). It is led by Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA) in partnership with private sector sponsors, utilities, municipal partners, and water, energy, landscape and green building industry associations.
As part of the project one County Court neighbourhood home has been renovated to demonstrate green home renovations that any other home can adopt. The Green Home Makeover is being used to:
- Showcase innovative eco-friendly home improvements and retrofits for single detached homes
- Educate homeowners and the building industry on new technology installation and maintenance
- Support monitoring and evaluation of innovative sustainable technologies
- Provide an on-the-ground illustration of retrofit benefits and connect people with how-to information
Renovation took place over fall and winter 2011 with a ribbon cutting celebration in spring 2012. .Over the next two years TRCA will be hosting organized tours of the house for those interested in learning more about sustainable home improvements.
